Kent Coulter Wealth Management Group -- part of Richardson GMP


After nearly 20 years in the business, the Kent Coulter Wealth Management Group was tired of using software that didn't work the way they did, so they asked MooseTrout to provide custom software that would empower them to work the way they worked. They also asked MooseTrout to look into what it would take to integrate their phone system with their CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software so that they can dial a client with one click from their computer and so that incoming calls would be automatically logged in their CRM.

The Alberta Library


The Alberta Library were having trouble migrating their email and groupware from Lotus Domino to Google Apps; MooseTrout found a solution that used open source software thinking to successfully complete the migration.

Medikly.com / SolutionGrove


Medikly.com is an American-based company that provides medical certification upgrade courses for the medical industry using the Elgg social networking platform. MooseTrout was hired to write custom Elgg plugins, including a Facebook-like Riverdashboard, as well as a custom Elgg quiz plugin for medikly.com.

2005-2010

Athabasca University


Brian Jorgensen had a two-year contract during which time he provided custom Moodle plugin programming, including a REST-based web service framework, as well as 6 months doing custom Elgg programming, including a very complex data migration, as well as writing many custom Elgg plugins

University of Winnipeg


For 4 years, MooseTrout Inc. provided remote technical support for the University of Winnipeg's instance of the open source Sakai Learning Management System. MooseTrout also recommended the service be branded "learn.uwinnipeg.ca", a name that lasts to this day. MooseTrout used open source software to provide a very inexpensive video podcasting proof-of-concept demonstration; this demonstration resulted in institution-wide buy-in and UW's resulting "Video On Demand" service.

2000-2005

The Alberta Library


For 4 years Brian Jorgensen was the IT manager of The Alberta Library, one of the largest library consortia in Canada.

MooseTrout worked closely with University librarians to create a customized DRA2 web catalog interface for 40+ Alberta University Libraries.

Edmonton Public Library


Brian Jorgensen designed and programmed EPL's first online web catalog interface; he also recommended the creation of a new Virtual Services department to focus on creating "web-based information tools for information professionals". This department came into being in 2003.

Al Simmons


MooseTrout designed and programmed an early -- and very fun! -- web site for Al Simmons; Brian also coined the motto "Inventive Musical Comedy" for Canada's Juno-award-winning family entertainer. Though Al's website has changed over the years to stay fresh, the motto is still being used over 12 years later!

Robert Hall Trading Seminars


Early website programming; custom emailing list software for "The Piranha", a day-trading stock pick mailing list.

The Checkerboard Guy


MooseTrout designed a visual identity system that included a cartoony look, a press kit, logo system; MooseTrout also programmed an early dynamic website and a very early online street performer "yellow pages".

Though the identity system has evolved over the years to stay fresh, the original CBG oval logo is still being used 15 years later!

The Arrogant Worms


Brian Jorgensen painted the album cover for the Arrogant Worms CD, "C'est Cheese". This has absolutely nothing to do with technology, but is still very cool.
