Here's a quickie remix of a screenshot that Lance posted on his blog; I think the whole thing is so odd that I may just have to get a t-shirt made for the Atlanta conference....

Sakai Project Website Remix

Sakai -- Who's Doing the Wagging?

I just got off the phone with Anthony Whyte; I was looking for information on the Sakai Commercial Affiliates program (I'm looking for more schools to work with since my hours with University of Winnipeg will probably be decreasing at the end of September).

Sakai, as with any large project, has its own language. This page is an attempt to bring some of that together:

Project Jargon

  • Confluence: wiki software; used by the Sakai community for ongoing documentation.
  • JIRA: bug tracking, issue tracking, and project management software. Used by Sakai for bug tracking and project management.
  • collab: a real-life, working installation of the Sakai software! (The Sakai community has called this "eating its own dogfood", IOW, using its own software to do its collaboration work). The Sakai community has set up separate Sakai "sites" for each community working group and discussion group. The "Email Archive" tools for each site are heavily used to manage the Sakai mailing lists.
  • sakai-dev: a project site at collab; usually refers to the mailing list
  • Sakaipedia: part of the larger Sakai wiki, a.k.a. Confluence
